The US government has lifted export restrictions on Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 artificial intelligence models, which were imposed a few weeks ago for national security reasons.
Anthropic has announced that it will begin to restore international availability of models from July 2, after receiving the official notification of the removal of restrictions from the US Department of Commerce.
The restrictions were imposed on June 12 after US authorities expressed concern that these advanced AI models could be used by hackers to carry out cyber attacks on computer systems.
According to the BBC, the US Department of Commerce has confirmed that Anthropic has eliminated the main security risks. According to Minister Howard Latnick, the company is committed to actively identifying and mitigating security threats associated with the models, as well as cooperating with the government in the process of releasing new AI models and reporting potential malicious activity.
At the same time, the ministry noted that it reserves the right to apply export restrictions again if necessary.
Anthropic also thanked users for their patience during the temporary service restrictions and emphasized that it will soon publish a list of official updates that will outline the changes made and the company's future plans.
