React Native lets us build the iOS and Android apps from a single codebase written in JavaScript and TypeScript. Between 85 and 95 percent of the code is shared, and only the remainder is written per platform. In practice that means one team, one schedule and a considerably shorter path to launch.

The interface is rendered with real native components, so the app does not feel like a website wrapped in a phone. Instagram, Shopify and Discord all run React Native inside their flagship products.

When React Native is the right choice

React Native is the strongest option when you need both platforms at once, the budget is finite, and the app is built around lists, forms, profiles, chat, payments and API traffic. It pays off especially well if you already employ React front-end developers, because the same people can maintain the mobile app instead of you funding two separate native teams. Where the problem is heavy graphics, real-time video processing or deep device integration, we will say so and recommend the native route rather than stretching the framework past where it fits.

TypeScript, architecture and code quality

Every project is written in TypeScript rather than plain JavaScript. It catches a large share of mistakes as the code is being written and makes the app far easier to change months later, which is where most of the real cost of software lives. Navigation runs on React Navigation, server state on TanStack Query, and application state on Zustand or Redux Toolkit depending on complexity. Code is split into modules, covered by tests and reviewed before it merges. Where a feature needs a native capability, we write the native module in Swift or Kotlin and bridge it in.

Expo and over-the-air updates

Most projects are built on Expo. It simplifies building, signing and distributing test versions, and EAS Build lets us produce iOS builds without maintaining a farm of Macs. The most valuable part is over-the-air updates: changes to the JavaScript layer can reach users directly, without going through store review a second time. A small bug can be fixed the same day instead of waiting on Apple. We stay inside the store rules and only ship over the air what the platforms permit, so your app is never at risk of removal.

Timelines, budget and handover

A React Native MVP is typically ready in 6–8 weeks for both platforms at once, and a mid-complexity app in 10–14 weeks. Building the same feature set as two separate native apps takes noticeably longer and costs more, both to build and to maintain afterwards. The quoted price includes design, engineering, backend and API, testing on real devices, publishing to the App Store and Google Play, and a 12-month technical warranty. Source code and all accounts transfer to you at handover, fixed in the contract.

Why React Native instead of two separate apps?

Because 85 to 95 percent of the code is shared between iOS and Android. That means one team, one schedule, a shorter timeline and materially cheaper maintenance afterwards, since every new feature is written once rather than twice.

Are React Native apps slow?

No. React Native renders real native components, and for the overwhelming majority of business apps users cannot tell the difference. The gap only becomes visible in heavy graphics work, real-time video processing or similarly demanding workloads, where we recommend native instead.

What are over-the-air updates?

They let us push changes to the JavaScript layer of the app straight to users without a second round of store review. A minor bug can be fixed the same day. Changes touching native code still require a normal store release, and we keep within platform policy.

Can you add custom native functionality?

Yes. When no ready library exists for something, such as a specific hardware SDK or a local payment provider, we write a native module in Swift or Kotlin and bridge it into the React Native app. This is routine work, not an exception.

Do we need separate designs for each platform?

The core design is shared, but we respect platform conventions: navigation patterns, the back gesture, how notifications behave. That attention is precisely what makes a cross-platform app feel native rather than ported.

Who maintains the app afterwards?

You can stay with us on a monthly support plan or continue independently. React Native is JavaScript and TypeScript, so any competent React developer can pick the project up. The code is documented and belongs entirely to you.
